After the international successes of 2024, with the singles Bossa Amor (Wave of Love), The Journey Ahead, Pigiamino and Christmas For Sale (instrumental and vocal versions), the Italian guitarist and composer RobertoTola, originally from the island of Sardinia, returns to the scene with a new original musical gem, “Lightness”; the first single of 2025.
In this song, Roberto Tola surrounds himself with the charismatic and extraordinary American vocalist Darryl Walker, to give life to a real explosion of lightness and sonic happiness.
From the first listen, Lightness drags the listener into an emotional experience, a hymn to the joy of living and fully embracing the simplest and purest moments of existence.
The perfect alchemy between the warm and enveloping sound of Roberto’s guitar and Darryl’s overwhelming voice, which almost dance on the soft and persuasive rhythm of the song, creates an intriguing blend of jazz and soul.
The harmonic interweaving is interesting, supported by a rhythm section that adds energy and lightness, with musicians of great experience and artistic sensitivity,musical talents with whom Roberto has now built a solid interplay, namely pianist Luciano De La Rosa, bassist Maciek Szczyciński and drummer Esteban Rotunno.
What makes this song even more precious is its profound introspective dimension: “Lightness” tells a moving conversation between a father and a son, in which the young man expresses his doubts and fears of not being able to realize his dreams in life. The father, with loving wisdom, reassures his son, urging him to believe in himself and to pursue his goals with determination; to live life lightly.
In the words of the composer, the personal message for the listener:
“Living lightly is not synonymous with frivolity, nor with insensitivity towards the boulders that afflict humanity. On the contrary, lightness becomes the antidote, the magic of ideally floating in the air and observing the world from above, dancing with the winds of destiny, free from chains that imprison the soul”.
