The Mexican group La Bendición presented this Thursday their new album “La Bendición Vol. 1”, the beginning of a cultural movement in Latin America that honors the richness of the Afro-Caribbean musical legacy.
The album contains collaborations with artists such as Camila Guevara (Mal de amor); Melanie Santiler, Kid Pistola, Andrés Levin (Qué mala); Jambene (Take care out there); América Valdés (Tírame); Luis Figueroa (What Happened? and the Jungle); Ramón Álvarez (La Selva); Donovan Morales (All I Have) and Dav Julca (An Illusion).
“Mal de amor was a song that came very easy for us. Spite is a good opportunity to play and imagine. And I really liked paying tribute to figures who have accompanied me for some time such as Alexander Abreu and Havana D’Primera or NG La Banda,” said Camila Guevara.
For singer Gabriel Melgarejo, Vol. 1 “is a manifesto. A drive for life, a call to rumba, and La Bendición has been the channel through which it has manifested itself,” because “it consolidates an unprecedented sound that reflects a deep work of the language of tropical music.”
For his part, Michael Rincón, also a singer, described Vol. 1 as “the letter of introduction of La Bendición: an album of 10 songs that revives the essence of salsa brava in the style of Fania, taking it to the language of a new generation.”

The album, already available on digital platforms, was written and produced by Rincón, Melgarejo, Julián Bernal and Geovanis Alcántara, members of La Bendición.
Alcantara has won the Latin Grammy three times and Bernal has been nominated twice. Since its birth in 2022, La Bendición continues to position itself as one of the most promising groups within the new wave of salsa made in Mexico, conquering both lovers of the genre and new audiences.
