José Alfredo Méndez “MéREX” – “Aquel Niño Jesús”

Miami, F.L. November 18, 2025 (Tumbao Media Productions). – Puerto Rican singer-songwriter José Alfredo Méndez “MéREX” announces the release of his most recent single entitled “Aquel Niño Jesús”, a musical proposal that seeks to convey a message of reflection, learning and hope this Christmas season.

The song revives a story that dates back to October 1985, when Tony Croatto and Roberto Arundel made known that barefoot and hairy boy who conquered the hearts of many. Forty years later, MéREX takes up that memory with respect and sensitivity, inviting the public to rediscover the true meaning of Christmas through its music.

José Alfredo Méndez began his musical career in 1979, inspired by the works of Haciendo Punto en Otro Son and Tony Croatto, forming the group Son Borinqueño with friends. In 1983, Croatto gave him the opportunity to join his group to gain experience, which marked the beginning of a solid career. A year later, Méndez founded his first professional project, Raíces Borincanas, and in 1989 he returned to collaborate with Croatto before embarking on his path as a soloist.

In 1992, Méndez decided to pause his musical plans to begin law studies, although in 1994 he resumed music when he rejoined Tony Croatto’s group, with whom he remained until the artist’s death in 2005. Since then, MéREX has continued to develop its musical proposal, keeping alive the essence and style of the tradition cultivated by Tony Croatto, combining it with contemporary elements for new generations.

The single “Aquel Niño Jesús” is now available on all digital music platforms. With this production, MéREX reaffirms its commitment to use music as a vehicle of union and hope, remembering that Christmas is a time to value humility and faith
