The Cuban musician living in Gran Canaria Juan Portuondo Zayas “JohnnyLaSalsa”
released on June 26 the single “Lovely Day”, one of the immortal songs of the
Legendary singer-songwriter Bill Withers. This version will be part of the compilation
of eight great classics of motown music as a tribute. This first album of
“JohnnyLaSalsa”
will be entitled “SOUL TRAIN”,
and will also be available in the coming months.
The single “LOVELY DAY” came out on June 26 at the Jazz Cloud JAZZ podcast under
the direction of its Producer Esteban Novillo Piris and is now available on all digital
platforms.
Supported by the Arena Digital Net Label Record Label based in Tenerife the
outstanding Producer and Bassist Manolin Lorente the Engineer Juan Carlos
Hernandez, the prominent Cuban musicians Alexis Canciano and Marcelino Wilson
as co-producers and as a consultant the former producer and guitarist from the
Canary Islands Juan Molina.In the Mastering from the BLACK BOX studios MASTERING
of Seville the outstanding Engineer Miguel Angel Gonzalez two times winner of a
Grammy Award, have shaped this production label together with important
collaborations of musicians from different countries.
All of them have made this peculiar version of ‘LOVELY DAY’ and their Debut Album
“SOUL TIMES” possible. In the voices the great singer of Curacao Based in Gran
Canaria, Kenneth Shearman, the majestic Canarian vocalist Cristina Maez, the
saxophonist from the Canary Islands Neftali Robaina, the prominent Cuban
saxophonist Rolando Ochoa, the Cuban trumpeter and producer Guillermo “Trujiz”
Trujillo, On percussion, the great Johnny Gomez and Filemon Monterola both from
Venezuela and others the outstanding Cuban percussionist Mario Mayin Ferrer, on
guitars the producers Larry Jean Louis and Marcelino Wilson, on the Baby Bass,
Johnathan Cruz Ayala and The great Wilmer Rodriguez, on the Electric Bass, Luis
Rivero.
The Musical Direction, as well as the arrangements, all the keyboards and the violin,
are in charge of its general producer

The project was recorded in various studios in various cities in Spain, Seville Madrid,
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Tenerife between the years 2022 and 2023. Lovers
of Jazz, Soul, Funk, R&B, Pop etc and especially the music of the years 70s and 80s
will enjoy these great hits under a peculiar style within the JazzLatino combining with
rhythms such as Chachachá, Bolero, Guagüanco, and La Salsa with a peculiar touch
of SMOOTHJAZZ. Without a doubt, a risky and interesting bet in which the general
