Jany McPherson – A Long Way

“A Long Way” , the new album of unreleased songs by Cuban pianist, singer and composer
Jany McPherson, is released digitally today, published by Glider Media Group and produced by Gianluca Di Furia .

The album, composed of eleven songs, eight of which are instrumental and three sung by the same author, is played in a trio with
Antonio Sgro on double bass and Yoann Serra on drums and is enriched by the participation of Christophe Lampidecchia on accordion in Te Dejo Ir and by extraordinary presence of the great guitarist John McLaughlin , as a special guest in Tú Y Yo .

John McLaughlin ‘s participation in the album is the fruit of a well-established artistic understanding and mutual esteem between the two musicians, so much so that Jany McPherson was invited to participate in John McLaughlin ‘s concerts in Europe on the occasion of his “The Liberation Tour” , which starts today from Basel .

The innate rhythmic sense derived from his native land, the deep and touching interpretative intensity of his
ballads , the overwhelming harmonic and melodic progressions of his music and the originality of the phrasing and improvisational language, contribute significantly to defining the uniqueness and the recognisability of his piano and compositional style.
The album was recorded and mixed by Philippe Gaillot at Recall Studios , in Pompignan, France, and mastered by Carmine Simeone at
Forward Studios in Rome.«My whole life is in this album.

The eleven songs that compose it are the result of an intense and surprising creative process in which I felt naturally inspired.
The melodies, the harmonies, the rhythms, the way of conceiving and developing the arrangements, the sound and the direction that this work was taking all arrived in my head with an unexpected simplicity – says Jany McPherson – Sometimes I close my eyes
and while I listen to this music, I imagine moments of real life, as if they were scenes from a film.
Each film has its own soundtrack, its own personality and tells its own story, without resembling the film that will start a few seconds later.

If I had to summarize the album in a few words, I would sum it up like this: “Music of the soul, for the soul”».
