The album comes after a series of releases that were opening the way to this sound and emotional universe: “Our Love”, “The Ship of Forgetfulness”, “Question of Skin” and “Since You Left”. Each single revealed a different part of Andrea’s artistic journey, showing her interpretive sensitivity and her ability to connect with stories where love, absence and resilience become protagonists.
The album’s focus song is “Déjame Volar,” a piece written by Andrea Lafert during the time of the devastating fires in Palisades, California, in 2025. In the midst of that context of uncertainty, loss and transformation, the artist found in music a space to breathe, heal and shape what words often fail to explain.
“Among Ashes has been for me an intimate journey, a journey in search of the deep, through loss, transformation and rebirth,” says Andrea. “This new album is born from a very personal process, where I allowed myself to go through emotions without imposing a name that defines them; they only feel when they let them flow without fear and free of prejudice.”
As Andrea neared the end of the recordings of Entre Azenizas, her life changed in an instant. The violent flames surrounding her home and community forced her to leave her home without knowing if she could see it the same again. Although his home remained standing, the experience left an indelible mark: seeing his city disappear before his eyes, feeling the anguish of his loved ones losing everything and facing the fragility of what seemed certain.
To this experience were added irreparable personal losses, endearing friends to those who will no longer embrace. From that void, Andrea transformed pain into art, allowing each song to become a form of emotional reconstruction.
The spiritual philosophy of Buddhism, a practice that has been with Andrea since his adolescence, also played an essential role in this process. Through her, the artist found a way to understand the impermanence of life, look at pain as an opportunity for growth and value more deeply the present, the bonds and the moments that we do not always know if they will be repeated again.
Musically, Entre Azenizas combines sensitivity, interpretive strength and an honest narrative. It is an album that does not seek to close wounds immediately, but to inhabit, listen to and transform them into light.
