The highly anticipated romantic comedy “The Almost Something” will have its world premiere on December 25, a perfect holiday gift for those who have experienced the complex world of on-again, off relationships.
“Get ready to relive the laughter, the doubts and the drama of those stories that never end up being defined,” said its producers.
Filmed in the city of Miami, “Los Casi Algo” immerses itself in the modern dynamics of couples who have “chemistry, but no commitment; love, but without a name.” The plot follows four friends —Julián (Nangel Ménez), Ricardo (Marko), Brandon (César Ruiz) and Juan (Richard Encanto)—, who enjoy closeness and routine with their respective “almost couples”: Ana María (Yelena Maciel), Valentina (Vanessa Suárez), Laura (Valeria Menéndez) and Mariana (Nanette Orellana).
The story takes an unexpected turn when they decide it’s time to change the rules of the game. That’s where the real adventure begins: emotions, expectations and theories of love are put to the test with hilarious situations and touching moments. The film confirms that the most undefined relationships are sometimes the ones that teach us the most about what it really means to love.
Directed by Karen Bompart, the film was written by the male leads themselves, alongside the director: Nangel Ménez, Marko, César Ruiz, Richard Encanto and Karen Bompart, injecting a unique authenticity and a strong Latino identity into the narrative. The cinematography was in charge of the experienced filmmaker Alex Galán, with the general production of Ari Pérez and Wilber Nava, and the executive production of Nangel Ménez.
The main cast is complemented by an impressive list of special appearances by influential figures in social networks and music such as Beta Mejía, Leo Colina, Yohana Vargas, Aleska Génesis, David Comedia, Pollito Tropical, Isander Pérez, Manualerod, Mago Jey Jey, Ignacio Baladán and Las Ocurrencias de Víctor.
The music is in charge of Lenier, Piso 21 and Lenny Tavárez.
“Los Casi Algo” will premiere on December 25 through a dedicated streaming platform. Access and tickets are available at Ticketplate.com.
The public will also have access to a behind-the-scenes special documenting the entire filming process and the work of the crew.
