‘Basta ya’ was written, produced and mixed by Alejo Cruz together with Kaliza Ingenioso, consolidating a more mature stage in his musical career. The song combines the sensitivity of the ballad with the strength of rock, achieving an intense, intimate and emotional sonority. The artist’s vocal performance conveys honesty and rawness, taking the listener on a sound journey that goes from pain to liberation, from silence to catharsis.
“This song was born in a moment of great loneliness, when I felt that I could no longer bear the weight of what I carried inside. Basta Ya is a way of shouting without raising your voice, of putting melody to pain and nostalgia. I don’t want people to just listen to it, but to dare to feel it. That whoever is broken finds in it a reflection, a company or simply a respite from so much silence,” says Alejo Cruz.
The official video clip of ‘Basta ya’ was directed by Alejo Cruz himself and produced by Sanalejo Imagen, recorded in Bogotá, with locations in Unicentro Occidente, Ciudadela Colsubsidio and a recording studio. The audiovisual production was filmed over two days, betting on a visual approach full of symbolism and emotion, wanting to show the feeling of despair of feeling alone in the middle of the crowd and of getting lost in so much noise.
With more than a decade of career, Alejo Cruz has taken his music to emblematic stages such as the Movistar Arena in Bogotá, where he has been invited to open the concerts of Vilma Palma e Vampiros and Los Prisioneros. He has also participated in the Manizales Fair, in the Des-generados Tour in Mexico, and has received recognition for his contribution to Colombian music and cinema, including the composition of soundtracks for films such as: “El Gran Bingo” and “Asalto al Mayor”.
2025 marks a year of expansion and artistic maturity for Alejo Cruz, who in addition to being invited again to the Movistar Arena to open the concert “Los Sonidos del Rock” and ventures into acting with a cameo in the film “CrisoVer”, where he also participates as a music producer.
With ‘Basta Ya’, Alejo Cruz once again demonstrates his ability to transform vulnerability into art.
