Juan Escovedo – Baila Cha Cha Cha Juan Escovedo DBA began his solo career in November 2021; however, Mr. Escovedo has been performing for over fifty years. Over these years, Mr. Escovedo has led several bands featuring Salsa, Latin Jazz, and Rhythm and Blues. Many of his performances are with established venues such as Yoshi’s Oakland, The Empress Theater in Vallejo, Vibrato’s in Bel Air, and the Catalina Jazz Club, and he does business directly with established music promoters who promote and book bands. Juan has also toured in Asia, Europe, the Caribbean, and nationwide. Juan Escovedo books his bands with Personal Manager/Assistant Dr. Gethsemane Moss. Juan has also toured, performed, and recorded with many artists, including Prince, Tony Toni Tone, Miguel, El Chicano, Con Funk Shun, Patti LaBelle, Amerie, Chingy, Jody Watley, Lou Bega, MC Hammer, Lionel Richie, En Vogue, El DeBarge, Freddie Hubbard, Barry White, Herbie Hancock, Cyndi Lauper, Teri Lynn Carrington, Bobby McFerrin, Tito Puente, Cheryl Lynn, Raphael Saadiq, Andy Vargas, Carlos Santana, Tierra, Bobby Womack, his sister Sheila E., and, still, his father, Pete Escovedo. Juan Escovedo has dropped his first CD, “The J” where He collaborated with notable musicians such as El DeBarge, Raphael Saadiq, Martin Kember, sister Sheila E., father Pete Escovedo, and brother Peter Michael Escovedo. Juan Escovedo wrote and arranged all the songs on his CD with musician Michael Angel Alvarado. The city of Oakland honored the Escovedo family by acknowledging their accomplishments during Hispanic Heritage Month in September 2023. In addition, on January 14, 2024, the city of Oakland officially honored the Escovedo with the unveiling of Escovedo Way in Oakland, where the family once lived on 9th Avenue and East 21st.
