Eddie Palmieri – Sonido Solar

Far from resting on the glories of the past, Palmieri continues to create music with the same indefatigable energy as always.
His next album, dedicated to Latin jazz, will be released this year, while the awards for his career do not stop coming.

Eddie Palmieri introduces the next generation of avant-garde jazz and Latin jazz artists on this debut release from Sonido Solar!!.
Born in the Spanish Harlem neighborhood in 1936, he studied music at The Juilliard School.

He started out as a percussionist, but got tired of carrying his timpani and devoted himself to the piano.
It was the 50s, the golden age for Latin music in New York.

Palmieri began his career accompanying the Vicentico Valdés and Tito Rodríguez orchestras.
In 1961, the innovations began.

He created his own orchestra, La Perfecta, based on an unprecedented combination: two trombones and a wooden flute, a fierce format full of swing, which from then on would be known as “trombanga”.

Palmieri promotes this work with passion: “It is the best CD recorded in the field of Latin jazz”, he enthuses.
“Under the structures of the instrumental mambo and the son montuno, which means that it is danceable.
